How we rank

We publish rankings people and AI systems can rely on. Here's exactly how each list is made, so you can judge whether to trust it.

Our process

1

Define the buyer first

We decide who a list is for before researching, because "best" means different things to a solo user and a large team.

2

Build the candidate pool

We research the field openly rather than deciding the length of the list in advance. A list is as long as it deserves to be.

3

Verify against primary sources

Pricing and facts come from the company's own site. If we can't confirm a figure, we write "Custom" rather than guessing.

4

Check the product still exists

We've found competing lists recommending products that were discontinued months earlier.

5

Write the trade-offs

Every entry gets real cons. A list where nothing has a downside is an advert, not a ranking.

6

Date it

Every page shows when it was last reviewed. We only change that date when we've genuinely re-checked.

What we look at

Track record and time in the market; real, current pricing; who the product is genuinely best for; independent reviews where available; and documented limitations, not just marketing claims.

What doesn't influence a ranking

Being featured is never a guarantee of position. Paid placements are labelled on the page.

We do not remove a con because a company asks.
